He\u2019s got a cask of something red and hoppy from the local brewery. I can\u2019t stay long, I want to get back for the rugby.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a barn in one of the fields by the green lane that winds muddily from the canal, down to the railway track. On the walk there, behind Happy Mount Park and alongside the back of the golf club, I notice a small concrete shed amongst the trees that crown the hill. A possible drinking den?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/marcprill.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210213_1348.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8158\" src=\"http:\/\/marcprill.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/210213_1348.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"707\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m just finishing my painting, when Dave arrives with a load of his friends. We access the barn, and there\u2019s the cask; it\u2019s covered in old, wet, Fuller\u2019s London Pride bar towels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe better not be drinking that shite!\u201d says one of Dave\u2019s mates.<\/p>\n<p>We nod, and guffaw in a Northern accent.<\/p>\n<p>I have a couple of pints, and chat with Dave about where we\u2019re going next.
